The University of Indianapolis, Saint Joseph’s College and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) have announced the January 16, 2017 men’s and women’s basketball games will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis.
Originally scheduled for Nicoson Hall, the Greyhounds and Pumas will instead meet in the 17,923-seat arena, home to both the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever. Both games will follow the Pacers versus New Orleans Pelicans contest, which is scheduled for a 4 p.m. Eastern start, with the women’s sides tipping off first.
“On behalf of the University of Indianapolis athletics department, we thank the folks at Bankers Life Fieldhouse for providing our teams this exciting opportunity,” Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Sue Willey said. ”Playing in such a historically rich and professional basketball venue after a Pacers game will create lifelong memories for our student-athletes, coaches and all who attend. I hope to see you there on January 16th.”
Located roughly 100 miles apart, the two in-state rivals were charter members of the GLVC when it formed in 1978. UIndy and Saint Joseph’s have met a combined 168 times between the men’s and women’s programs.
